Product introduction:

Do you know what are the flint balls?

Some of flint balls are from sea or river, and Gaoteng flint balls are from the mine, are small, hard stones made of silica rocks, are typicallya gray. High hardness flint balls are used in grinding and polishing applications. They are used to grind glazes and other raw materials for ceramics, and they are also used to polish metal and stone surfaces.

Which feilds do we use flint balls in? And how do we use them?

Flint pebbles are used for grinding and polishing in a variety of fields, including:

Ceramics: Flint pebbles are used to grind glazes and other raw materials for ceramics. Glazes are a vitreous coating that is applied to ceramics to give them a smooth, glossy finish. Flint pebbles are also used to polish ceramic surfaces. Flint balls are primarily used to grind glazes, they are a very hard and abrasive material, which makes them ideal for grinding glazes into a fine powder. In addition to glazes, flint pebbles can also be used to grind other raw materials for ceramics, such as: Flint, which is a type of quartz that is used to add texture and durability to ceramics; Kaolin, which is a clay mineral that is used to make ceramic bodies; Calcium carbonate, which is used to flux the glaze and make it more fluid; Ferric oxide, which is used to add color to the glaze.

Metalworking: Flint pebbles are used to polish metal surfaces. They can be used to remove scratches and other imperfections from metal parts, and they can also be used to create a high-gloss finish.

Stoneworking: Flint pebbles are used to polish stone surfaces. They can be used to remove scratches and other imperfections from stone countertops, floors, and monuments.

How do we use flint pebbles in ball mill to grind? How about the sizes, ratio and quantity?

Preparation:

Choose the right flint pebble size: Flint pebbles come in various sizes, typically ranging from 2cm to 15cm. The ideal pebble size depends on the material being ground and the desired particle size. For instance, larger pebbles are suitable for coarse grinding, while smaller pebbles are preferred for fine grinding.

Determine the pebble-to-material ratio: The pebble-to-material ratio is crucial for achieving optimal grinding results. A common ratio for grinding glazes in a ball mill is 4:1, meaning four parts of flint pebbles for every one part of glaze material. However, this ratio may vary depending on the specific material and desired fineness.

Calculate the required pebble quantity: The amount of flint pebbles needed depends on the size and capacity of the ball mill. As a general rule, fill the ball mill about 50-60% with flint pebbles, leaving enough space for the material to be ground.

Grinding Process:

Load the ball mill: Place the flint pebbles and the material to be ground into the ball mill. Ensure the pebbles are evenly distributed and the material is not clumped together.

Secure the ball mill: Tightly close the ball mill to prevent any material or pebbles from escaping during operation.

Rotate the ball mill: Start rotating the ball mill at the specified speed. The rotation speed should be high enough to create sufficient impact between the pebbles and the material, leading to grinding.

Monitor the grinding process: Periodically check the grinding progress. The grinding time may vary depending on the material, pebble size, and desired fineness.

Remove the ground material: Once the desired particle size is achieved, stop the ball mill and carefully remove the ground material.

Additional Considerations:

Pebble wear: Flint pebbles wear down over time due to the grinding process. Replace the pebbles when they become significantly smaller or rounded, as worn pebbles can reduce grinding efficiency.

Pebble cleanliness: Keep the flint pebbles clean and free of contaminants to prevent contamination of the material being ground.

Ball mill maintenance: Regularly clean and maintain the ball mill to ensure optimal performance and prevent damage to the mill or pebbles.

By following these guidelines, you can effectively use flint pebbles in a ball mill to grind various materials, including glazes, minerals, and other ceramic raw materials. Remember that the specific parameters may vary depending on the specific material and desired fineness.

Production process:

How do we produce the silex pebbles?

production process of flint pebbles

Gaoteng has engaged in the production of silex pebbles for over 23 years. Our silex pebbles are from the mine, not from the sea or river.

First, the artisans mine the silicon mineral from the mountain. Then sort the silica raw rock and break the large rock into smaller ones, so that the preformed silex pebbles are finished. Next, put the preformed silica pebbles into a ball mill, after grinding for 6~8 hours, the rocks become round. After that, we screen the different sizes by machine and by hand. Finally, we pack the silica pebbles into bags and transport them to our warehouse or direct to the customers.
