What is Gaoteng cordierite?
Synthetic cordierite is one of magnesium aluminum silicate material made by artificial methods. The chemical composition is 2MgO·2Al₂O₃·5SiO₂, and its chemical formula is Mg₂Al₄Si₅O₁₈. It is made from high-quality kaolin, alumina powder, and talc as the main raw materials, through grinding, molding, drying, and calcination. With a low coefficient of expansion and excellent thermal shock stability. It is widely used as the preferred raw material for refractory materials such as low-temperature kiln furniture, hot blast stove bricks, honeycomb ceramics, and industry ceramics.

Japanese customers use synthetic cordierite with a size of 0-1mm to produce clay POTS. Before packing, need pay more attention on sizes. Otherwise, if there are particles of 1mm or more, it will cause coarse spots on the final product’s cooking pot.
