1. Overflow ball mill

Overflow ball mill is a basic form of ball mill. Its main feature is that there are feed ports and discharge ports at both ends of the grinding barrel. The material enters the grinding barrel through the feed port. After being affected by friction and impact force in the barrel, it is discharged through the discharge port. The advantage is that the structure is simple, the operation is stable and reliable, and it is suitable for fine grinding and medium grinding; the disadvantage is that it requires high material fluidity.

 

2. Grid ball mill

Compared with the overflow ball mill, the grid ball mill has an extra screen plate, so that the materials can only enter the next grinding stage through the screen holes, thereby improving the grinding efficiency. The advantage is that it has good screening effect, strong controllability, and is suitable for dry grinding and wet grinding; the disadvantage is that the structure is complex and the maintenance cost is high.

 

3. Vertical ball mill

The vertical ball mill uses a vertically arranged grinding barrel so that materials can fall and grind freely during the grinding process. The advantages are high grinding efficiency, small floor space, and suitable for ultra-fine grinding; the disadvantages are large vibration, easy generation of noise, and high requirements on material viscosity.

 

4. Drum ball mill

The roller ball mill uses a larger roller instead of a grinding barrel for grinding to reduce the consumption of grinding media. The advantage is that it consumes less grinding media and has high grinding efficiency, so it is suitable for dry grinding. The disadvantage is that it requires high material humidity and is not suitable for wet grinding.

 

5. Planetary ball mill

The planetary ball mill uses a planetary gear system to drive the grinding jars for grinding, and has the characteristics of simultaneous grinding of multiple jars and gap-free operation. The advantage is that the grinding effect is good, high-quality fine powder can be obtained in a short time, and it is suitable for ultra-fine crushing; the disadvantage is that the price is higher.

For example, the overflow ball mill is suitable for coal grinding and mineral processing in the steel, electric power and other industries; the grid ball mill is suitable for dry and wet grinding in the cement, chemical and other industries; the vertical ball mill is suitable for ceramics, cemented carbide, etc. Ultra-fine powder preparation in the field; drum ball mill is suitable for medium and fine grinding in building materials, metallurgy and other fields; planetary ball mill is suitable for ultra-fine powder preparation and high-precision material surface treatment in biotechnology, medicine and other fields.
