The Loong Boat Festival, also known as the Dragon Boat Festival and the Loong Boat Festival, is one of the four traditional festivals in China. There are many legends and explanations about the origin of the Loong Boat Festival, among which Qu Yuan, a poet of the State of Chu, is the most popular.

Qu Yuan was a famous poet and politician of the State of Chu during the Warring States period. He was ostracized and exiled due to his concern for the country and the people, and his outspoken advice. During his exile, Qu Yuan deeply felt the danger of the country and the suffering of the people, and wrote many touching poems. In 278 BC, the capital of the State of Chu was conquered by the State of Qin. Qu Yuan was heartbroken and committed suicide by throwing a stone into the Miluo River on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, sacrificing himself for his country. In order to commemorate Qu Yuan's noble character and patriotism, the local people rowed boats to rescue him and threw Zongzi into the river, hoping that the fish would not bite Qu Yuan's body. Later, this custom gradually evolved into the main customs of the Loong Boat Festival, that is, Loong Boat rowing and eating Zongzi.
