The main difference between rolling formed alumina oxide grinding balls and pressing formed alumina grinding balls is the processing method.Their naming is also based on the processing methods.

The pressing ball is a wear-resistant alumina ball formed by cold isostatic pressing. Rolling ball is a wear-resistant alumina ball formed by rolling.

From the appearance, the pressed aluminum oxide sphere has a protruding edge, which is an indentation formed on the surface of the sphere during the cold isostatic pressing process. Usually, spheres with a diameter greater than 30mm are processed by pressing method.

Rolling forming alumina ceramic grinding balls are generally designed for small-sized grinding balls within diameter of 25mm or less. Aluminum oxide granulation powder is sprayed into the ball forming machine, which operates efficiently and continuously. The aluminum oxide ceramic balls are slowly rolled to the required size, with a relatively smooth surface.

From the characteristics of the alumina grinding balls, the compressive strength of the pressed ball is relatively high, but the consistency between the inside and outside of the rolled ball is good.

 High quality rolled balls have lower wear compared to pressed balls. Although the surface strength of the pressed ball is high, the strength and wear inside the pressed ball are not as good as the initial use effect after the ball is used for a period of time and the size becomes smaller. 

So for customers with high wear or quality requirements, we recommend high-quality rolled balls.
